WHAT IS YOGA?

In simple terms, yoga is the Union of the body, the mind and the breath which creates stillness, clear thinking, and helps to abandon negative emotions such as ego, resentment, frustration and fear.

Yoga is commonly seen as a form of exercise that stretches the muscles, however it is far more than this. Yoga will energise, give positive mental focus.

How does it do this? Breath is the key to yoga practice, and helps strengthen and cleanse the body. No areas of the body will be unused throughout the week, so by the time you leave you feel wonderfully tall, lean and refreshed.

WHAT TYPE WILL BE PRACTICED?

General Hatha yoga will form most of the week’s yoga style. This involves lots of various asanas (postures), Pranayama (breathing) and therefore concentration. There will also be a unique insight and practice into our training with worldwide renowned teachers Ana Forrest, Shiva Rea, David Swenson, and James D’Silva. The Yoga style is fun, refreshing, challenging, energising and healing. An amazing transformational. active week, as well as some knowledge on the resistance yoga energy series in creating permanent flexibility gains.

I DON’T PRACTICE REGULARLY, WILL I FIND IT TOO DIFFICULT?

This week will be uniquely catered towards all levels and styles previously practiced. Most mornings will have a 90-minute energising pre-breakfast class, and most evenings a more relaxing 60-90 minute class. Yoga is about taking it at your own pace so there is no need to worry what everyone is doing.

I WAS THINKING OF COMING ON MY OWN, BUT WONDERED IF ANYONE ELSE WILL BE?

Retreats are such inviting, sociable places that they can offer you the opportunity to make friends easily, or equally have time alone in the comfort of your own room. The Yoga week will help introduce you to like minded people immediately and instantly help you feel at ease.

WILL I HAVE TIME TO TRY OUT OTHER ACTIVITIES WHILST ON HOLIDAY?

Absolutely yes. The timetable allows you to have each day free for such (change such to other) activities or to just sit by the pool and relax, and meeting up again in the evening for the relaxation and meditation class. First and foremost it is your holiday!
